3 Tips on What To Wear To a Wedding

Weddings are always fun to attend because you celebrate with a friend or family member and celebrate love, and who doesn’t love love? You’ve decided to be there to celebrate someone's special day, and it is time for you to pick out what to wear. This could sometimes be confusing because of the need to impress and look stunning. There are several things that you should put into consideration to ensure that you show up looking your best.

If you’ve ever asked yourself what you should wear as a guest to a wedding, consider these three tips to guide you.

1.     Consider the dress code

Most couples usually set a dress code for the colours that should be used and sometimes, the kind of clothes to wear, depending on the time of the year it is to take place and the wedding ceremony style. A black tuxedo will do just the trick for some weddings, while for others, a traditional attire complete with an agbada and fila is required.

You should pair a tuxedo with an appropriate shirt, cufflinks, a black bow tie, black leather shoes, a white pocket square, and a waistcoat. Women can go with a floor-length gown or any other elegant dress.

2.     Consider the venue of the wedding

The wedding venue can give you insight and help you understand the kind of clothes to wear to the wedding. What you would wear to a church wedding would be different from what you would wear to an outdoor wedding on a beach or your lovely backyard. The venue could help narrow your choices for the kind of footwear to use too. For an outdoor wedding, stilettos are not advisable since they could sink into the ground. If you’re indoors, however, heels are a good choice.

3.     As much as possible, don’t wear white

If it is not stated in the dress code to wear white, avoid wearing an outfit that is all white. There are cases whereby guests could be asked to wear white to match the wedding’s theme. In such a case, it is acceptable. As long as white is not the primary colour or the only colour of your outfit, you can wear a jumpsuit or a dress with hints of white.

Accessorize modestly with earrings and a handbag for the enhancement of your outfit to provide a complete look.
